What Happens If You Drink Only Water

We’ve all heard about the health benefits of swapping out some of your soda for water, but what happens if you have water as your only source of fluid? Each molecule, tissue, cell, and organ of the human body relies on water to function. So, having water as your primary liquid can allow some fantastic health benefits. What Happens If You Drink Only Water

Mental Performance and Creativity Boost

According to the Journal Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, when you only drink water, your brain reacts faster. The brain needs a great amount of oxygen to efficiently operate, and water provides an excellent source of oxygen. Drinking water will help you to focus and think, helping you to feel quicker and keener. Research suggests that drinking 8 to 10 cups of water each day could boost your cognitive performance by up to 30%.

Slower Aging

If you can’t understand why your friends look younger than you, it could be because they only drink water. Drinking water can help to decelerate aging as your skin is adequately hydrated. Drinking plenty of water can help to keep your skin moisturized, plump and wrinkle free. It can also help to maintain your muscle tone.

Immunity Boost

There is a Slovakian Proverb that says “Pure water is the first and foremost medicine” and this is no exaggeration. Water acts as a catalyst to renew body functions, supporting the performance of your kidneys and liver. Since these organs are responsible for eliminating toxins, salt and waste from the blood, it is vital that you drink adequate levels of water. Drinking only water can also neutralize pH levels, support pain management and strengthen your immunity against illnesses including kidney stones.

Support for Cardiovascular Health

Water can also help you to develop a healthy heart. Drinking only water will decrease your risk of a heart attack as the blood is prevented from being thickened and your blood pressure is lowered. Research has shown that drinking a glass of water approximately an hour before bed will significantly reduce the risk of a stroke or heart attack. Additionally, the American Journal of Epidemiology printed a six year research study that documented people who drink five glasses of water or more each day had a 41% less likelihood of a fatal heart attack.

Increased Joint Flexibility

Water can also help to build the cartilage that forms the shock absorption in your joints. There is strong evidence that drinking plenty of water improves joint flexibility as the cartilage supports smooth movement, while there is some research to suggest that some sodas can trigger inflammation that can cause problems, particularly those with problem joints.

While drinking only water can provide you with some amazing health benefits, it is important that you’re drinking good quality water. Drinking water containing contaminants can create problems, particularly if it is your only source of fluid. So, if you want to avoid the expense of bottled water, you may wish to consider a domestic water treatment system. There is a variety of systems, and a fully WQA certified water treatment specialist can guide you through the options best suited to your specific water quality issues.
